The new BSB Version 7.0 is one of the biggest updates to the Business Services training package in years, and it is releasing on training.gov.au this October*. This comes after PwC’s Skills for Australia’s Case for Endorsement document was endorsed at the Australian Industry Skills Committee meeting.
About 4 in 5 RTOs have at least 1 BSB training component on scope, so we could say that almost all Registered Training Organisations will be affected by the change.
Many RTOs have already enquired with us about the new BSB courses and how e-learning and a premium LMS platform could help them deliver training at a lower cost. Most of these RTOs we have spoken to are already preparing for the changes.
Want to prepare your RTO for this major update? Please read on.

What Does the 2020 BSB Version 7.0 Update Mean for My RTO?
The changes mean your RTO will need to reapply for scope ASAP. Your RTO must act swiftly to accommodate the massive changes in the new BSB 7.0 training package. Acting ASAP means that you will be able to service the massive student demand for the new qualifications.
The BSB 7.0 Update can also be an opportunity to be the first to market and deliver the new courses to the massive number of students who will want to train for the new qualifications. Complying with the changes then means more opportunities for your RTO to train students.
What Should My RTO Do?
You will have to get training materials developed for the NEW unit standards – just changing the course code on the materials won’t work! apply or re-apply for scope to get new (and “Not Equivalent”) qualifications on your RTO’s roster of courses.
Typical options to get resources would be to purchase RTO materials from an RTO resource publisher or developer OR to develop the New BSB 7.0 RTO materials in-house. However, these options are not the most cost-efficient and can cost your RTO literally tens-of-thousands of dollars, if not more. Therefore, they are not the best options if you’re looking to upgrade
For big updates like the new BSB v7.0, it’s best to get a premium RTO LMS subscription which will allow you to deliver the new BSB 2020 courses in e-learning format at a more cost-efficient rate! Moreover, using a leading LMS platform will also help your RTO deliver quality training through the following features:
- Powerful LMS system with option to get e-learning resources with your LMS
- LMS is plug-and-play compatible with common SCORM/HTML5 compliant e-learning resources
- Rapid e-Learning authoring tool built into your LMS
- Built-in virtual classroom software to run effective online training
- Integrates with many common SMS platforms for great student management and AVETMISS reporting
- Brand with your logo & colours to promote your RTO to your students!
- Training included in your setup, with additional support available!
- Hosted on powerful cloud servers to maximise speed & reliability
- Further customisations and integrations available!
